Dallas Cowboys Bolster Defense, Sign 2 Former UFL Stars

The Dallas Cowboys beefed up their defense last week with two signings of former UFL players, CB Gareon Conley and LB Willie Harvey, Jr.

Conley, a former first-round pick, played this season with the D.C. Defenders. The 28-year-old tallied 25 tackles, two interceptions, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery in seven games played. With star CB Trevon Diggs set to return from a torn ACL suffered early last season, the Cowboys’ secondary gets even stronger on the outside.

Harvey, an All-UFL selection, led the league with 78 tackles and finished tied for second with nine tackles for loss. After going undrafted out of Iowa State in 2019, Harvey spent 2019-2021 with the Browns practice squad.

With former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn leaving for D.C. and several key pieces to Dallas’ defense departing during free agency, Conley and Harvey will look to compete for substantial playing time this season.
