Hakeem Butler, Sal Cannella Sign NFL Contracts

A pair of star UFL pass catchers are headed to the NFL in former Renegades TE Sal Cannella, as well as former Battlehawks WR and reigning Offensive Player of the Year Hakeem Butler.

Cannella signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after an impressive 2024 season. was tied for the UFL lead in receiving touchdowns with six scores. The Auburn product finished with 496 yards on 53 catches in 2024 as part of the UFL’s best statistical passing attack and will likely compete with Ko Kieft for the Bucs’ TE2 position.

Butler signed with the Cincinnati Bengals to help fill out their WR room. The Iowa State product led the UFL with 652 receiving yards and finished tied for second with 5 receiving touchdowns. With Bengals star pass catcher Ja’Marr Chase holding out for a contract extension, Butler’s 6’5″, 227 pound frame will help fill the void if Chase misses time this season.
